The NRL is set to ban St George Illawarra player Francis Molo for two games after he pleaded guilty to a domestic violence offence committed before Christmas.
The 28-year-old had pleaded guilty in Port Kembla court last month to one charge of stalking or intimidation with intent to cause fear of physical or mental harm.
He avoided a criminal conviction and was sentenced to a conditional release order for a period of 18 months.
The court also issued an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) which prohibits Molo from being in the company of the victim at least 12 hours after drinking alcohol or taking illicit drugs.
The NRL issued the Dragons player with a breach notice yesterday over the incident.
"The breach notice proposes a match suspension of two NRL premiership competition matches, to be served form the commencement of Round 10 of the 2023 Telstra Premiership, a fine of $15,000 ($5,000 suspended for a period of 18 months) and a requirement that Molo attend such education training as is recommended by the NRL Education and Wellbeing team."
The prop is currently serving a three-game suspension for a careless high tackle during the Dragons' loss to the Gold Coast Titans in round five.
Molo has five days to respond to the breach notice.
Meanwhile St George Illawarra have issued a statement indicating the club supported the decision by the league to issue to the ban.
"The Dragons take such matters extremely seriously.
"As such, Molo will undertake an NRL-approved program relating to his behaviour. This program is tailored for each individual and conducted by an independent body."
The club said Molo and his family would receive ongoing support from the Dragons' wellbeing staff while he undertook the program.
