A CHARITY is pleading for the protection of a crucial hospital in Gaza where hundreds of people are being treated, saying there is “nowhere for patients to go”.
In a post on Twitter/X, Doctors Without Borders posted a video explaining the importance of protecting Nasser Hospital.
Hospitals have been targeted since Israel’s bombardment of Gaza started in October, with the al-Ahli hospital previously being hit in a strike while it was packed with wounded and those seeking shelter.
In the video, Javid Abdelmoneim with the charity’s medical team, said: “What’s clear is that there nowhere for these patients to go. If Nasser has to be evacuated, there will no be more oxygen manufacture and no more sterile equipment sterilisation left in Gaza.
“There is nowhere left after Nasser. It is the end of the line, there is nowhere else to go if Nasser has to close.”

He also said that any more “mass casualties” would result in patients being discharged earlier than they should be.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said on Thursday that it has confirmed the head of Hamas’ military wing, Mohammed Deif, was killed in an airstrike in Gaza in July.
Israel targeted Deif in a strike on July 13 that hit a compound on the outskirts of the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, but there had been no immediate confirmation he was killed.
More than 90 other people, including displaced civilians in nearby tents, were killed in the strike, Gaza health officials said at the time.
In a statement on Thursday, the Israeli military said that “following an intelligence assessment, it can be confirmed that Mohammed Deif was eliminated in the strike”.
The confirmation comes a day after an apparent Israeli airstrike in Tehran killed Hamas’s top political leader, Ismail Haniyeh.
Israel has not confirmed or denied being behind the attack although Iran has vowed retaliation.
Following the Hamas-led attack in southern Israel on October 7, the Israeli bombardment of Gaza has resulted in the death of more than 39,000 Palestinians.
