Jurgen Klopp has sent a message of congratulations to Liverpool Women’s coach Matt Beard and his 'wonderful team' after they returned to the top flight.
The Reds clinched promotion from the Championship as champions with a 4-2 win at Bristol City Women on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool have been out of the FA Women’s Super League since they were relegated in controversial circumstances when the season was ended early in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

And a delighted Klopp said: “Congratulations, I sent messages yesterday, I was really happy and was following it all the time, I was looking for their results always after and around our games, looking when they played, who they played.
“Last week obviously with the results it was clear with a draw against Bristol they would make it (up) and they won. I’m really happy for the girls and for Matt, it is a big thing.
“Liverpool in the last years was not famous for treating or dealing with the women’s football outstandingly well - they didn’t go down to the Championship for no reason - but now they are back and we have to make sure we use the situation.
“I met a lot of the girls in the last two or three months for different reasons. They did wonderful stuff together with Meikayla (Moore, Liverpool defender) for LGBT, which was really great. It’s really nice. It’s a wonderful team and great coach and I’m really happy for them to get promoted.”
