Novak Djokovic News: Nole Admits He Misses Golden Era Rivals

The latest Novak Djokovic news confirms that the 24-time Grand Slam winner is ‘a bit sad’ that his greatest rivals have all ‘left him’ playing tennis without them.

Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka and most recently Juan Martin del Potro have all hung up their racquets. Leaving Djokovic as the last man standing from the Golden Generation.

The Serbinator claims he has no intention of closing the curtain on his illustrious career just yet. However, the fact there will be no more clashes against the likes of Federer, Nadal and Murray leaves an empty feeling.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Murray was actually announced as Djokovic’s new head coach last month. He’ll be working with Djokovic throughout the 2025 Australian Open.

The surprise decision has been met with excitement by Djokovic. Although their glory day battles are over, Nole gets to spend time on court with his good friend in a new capacity.

Novak Djokovic News: Serb Has New Rivalries To Cultivate

On Monday, Novak Djokovic played in an exhibition match against Juan Martin del Potro in Buenos Aires. The Argentine was playing in his final match before retiring.

“It is a very special and exciting moment for me as well, not only because of the rivalry. The rivalry we have is also very strong because we have experienced many moments,” Djokovic said in the pre-match press conference.
“In the recent period, our friendship has prevailed more than just a rivalry. we have to celebrate Juan Martin’s career.”
Now, Djokovic can focus on renewing rivalries with the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. The Italian maestro had a stellar 2024 whereas Alcaraz beat Nole in this year’s Wimbledon final.
Although coming up against the latest tennis stars might not have the same ‘feel’ as competing against the Golden Era players – Djokovic still has plenty to play for.
