World No. 1 Novak Djokovic announced his withdrawal from the Miami Open, which begins March 17, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday.
"Hi Miami! Unfortunately I won’t be playing the Miami Open this year. At this stage of my career, I’m balancing my private and professional schedule. I’m sorry that I won’t experience some of the best and most passionate fans in the world. I’m looking fw competing in MI in future," Djokovic wrote.
Djokovic's decision to forego the Miami Open, the ATP calendar's final hard court event before the clay court season begins in April, comes just days after the Serbian star was stunned by World No. 123 Luca Nardi in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open this past Monday night.

It’s been an unusual start to the year for Djokovic, who has compiled an exemplary 8–2 record, but has yet to win a title, including at the Australian Open, a tournament he had won four of the last five times entering 2024.
Djokovic is a six-time winner of the Miami Open, an ATP Masters 1000 event.
