Novak Djokovic And Nick Kyrgios To Play Doubles At Brisbane

The bromance contines.  Following news of Nick Kyrgios’s return to competitive tennis after a multi-year layoff due to injury, tennis fans learned that he will be enlisting the help of a very capable doubles partner in his comeback.  Kyrgios will pair with Novak Djokovic at the Brisbane International tournament beginning December 29, 2024, in Queensland, Australia.

The pair will have capacity crowds at their doubles matches.  Kyrgios is a native Australian, and Djokovic is a legend who fans fill stadiums to see anywhere in the world.

Last summer, Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic hit together in New York during the US Open.  At the time, Kyrgios was working for ESPN as an analyst.

Nick Kyrgios Plans A Lot Of Doubles Play

In addition to playing singles, Kyrgios is planning a lot of doubles play.  He will reunite with childhood friend and fellow 2022 Australian Open doubles champion Thanasi Kokkinakis in Melbourne.

While that is not a huge surprise, Jack Sock‘s recent revelation on the Nothing Major podcast was.  Sock retired in 2023.  He plans to come out of retirement to play doubles with Kyrgios at the Miami Open in March.

What To Expect From Nick Kyrgios

Kyrgios has been away from competitive tennis for a long time.  His career-best season was in 2022.  Though he is a divisive personality for his views off the court, many agree that he has a natural and innate talent.  Some argue that he wasted his talent in his younger years because he lacked discipline.  He is a free spirit who does things his way.  It would be fun and great for tennis if Kyrgios returns to his 2022 form, climbs up the rankings, and contends for a Grand Slam singles title.
