Notts County v Woking player ratings as 'livewire' Aaron Nemane impresses

Notts County battled their way back into the National League play-off positions as goals from Ruben Rodrigues and Eli Sam sealed a 2-0 win at Woking.

In a dire first half, Rodrigues had been close to giving the Magpies the lead when he volleyed wide of the post from a raking pass from Kyle Cameron.

But in an opening 45 minutes that was devoid of quality, the Portuguese attacker broke the deadlock when he rifled in from the edge of the box.

Kyle Wootton then saw a shot superbly saved by Craig Ross early in the second half as the Magpies looked to kill the game off.

A lovely cross from Jayden Richardson then flashed across goal after a fine run from the on-loan Nottingham Forest defender.

Minutes later, Craig Ross was required to show his reflexes when he denied Aaron Nemane as Notts continued to have the better of the second half.

But his resistance was finally broken when Sam rifled in a terrific finish after good work from Nemane.

Here Leigh Curtis rates the players from the clash at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.

Vitezslav Jaros: Had nothing to do in the first half as both sides struggled to create chances not helped by the surface. Comfortable afternoon all round. 6

Jayden Richardson: There were a couple of moments of real quality specifically the shot that fizzed just wide with his weaker left foot. Reliable as always. 7

Richard Brindley: Must have wondered what he had done to upset Woking as he was on the end of several crunching challenges but remained composed. 7

Kyle Cameron: There were a couple of free-kicks he gave away, but he cruised through the game as Woking failed to land a glove on the Notts back four. 7

Adam Chicksen: Has been in terrific form of late and this was a game in which all players struggled to show their quality on the ball due to a surface that was a bit of a lottery at times. 7

Matt Palmer: Battled his way through the game which was not a pretty one to watch by any stretch of the imagination. It was all about getting the job done. 7

Ed Francis: Didn't have the best of first halves but nobody could say they had a sparkling performance in what was a tough 45 for most. It was not helped by the lack of atmosphere. 6

Aaron Nemane: Replaced the injured Callum Roberts and Woking couldn't live with his pace or his quick feet. Played a key role in both goals. A livewire. 8

Ruben Rodrigues: Lit up an utterly dour game with a fantastic strike from the edge of the box. Looked the most likely player to create openings. 8

Eli Sam: Plenty of hard work went into his performance, but chances were very few and far between for the forward players in the first half. Took his goal brilliantly in the second. In deadly form right now. 7

Kyle Wootton: Had to forage away up front on his own and did an admirable job. Had a deflected shot that was saved by the goalkeeper. Works so hard. 7
