Notts County player ratings as winning run comes to an end against Bromley

Notts County were left frustrated at Meadow Lane as they drew 1-1 with Bromley on Tuesday evening, but still remain top of the National League.

Adam Chicksen gave the Magpies the lead after latching on to Ruben Rodrigues' inch-perfect cross into the area to net his sixth goal of the season.

But Andy Woodman's side continued to frustrate the home side, with Michael Cheek eventually getting the goal he had threatened all evening, doing well to glance his header in at the near post and beyond Sam Slocombe.

Boos echoed around Meadow Lane following the full-time whistle directed towards referee Lewis Smith, with a number of his decisions infuriating the Notts fans inside the stadium during the second half.

After a sustained spell of dominant possession early on, it was the Ravens who almost found the breakthrough. A defence splitting pass found the run of Cheek in behind the Notts defence, with the Bromley number nine doing brilliantly to skip beyond Sam Slocombe, only to fire his effort into the on-rushing Aden Baldwin.

But their impressive start was rewarded just before the 20-minute mark. Rodrigues' inch-perfect cross evaded the oncoming Macaulay Langstaff, but Chicksen was on hand at the back post to slide home his sixth goal of the season - more goals than he has scored in his entire career.

However, a nervy finish to the first half ensued, with Slocombe producing three pivotal saves to deny Cheek on two occasions to maintain their one-goal advantage going into half time.

Despite that sustained spell of pressure, Rodrigues almost doubled the Magpies' lead five minutes from time - doing exceptionally well to steal possession before rifling a shot towards goal, only for it to cannon on the bounce.

And the hosts were again denied by the woodwork ten minutes into the second half, this time Langstaff did well to turn and smash a left-footed shot on to the crossbar as the Bromley 'keeper stood and admired.

Bromley continued to frustrate the Magpies, and after threatening all evening, Cheek finally got his goal - doing well to escape to the front post to head beyond Slocombe.

The Magpies had opportunities to win the game however, Quevin Castro seeing his close ranged effort expertly saved by Smith once again.

Following the game, here is how we rated the Notts players this evening.

Sam Slocombe - 7

Produced three brilliant saves during the first half with the score at 1-0. Was commanding in his area and there was nothing he could do about Cheek's equaliser.

Kyle Cameron - 7

Continually looked to play forward and offer another option around the box. Produced two vital interceptions during the game including denying Harry Forster as he bared down on goal.

Aden Baldwin - 6

Showed his pace and acceleration to deny Cheek a certain goal with a sensational last-minute block. Looked solid in the middle of the back three.

Connell Rawlinson - 6

Looked like he was struggling early on following a challenge but powered through. His substitution was no reflection on his performance, but for Brindley to provide that extra pace going forward.

Adam Chicksen - 8

What a season this man is having. In the right place at the right time to latch on to Rodrigues' inch-perfect pass. His energy for the entirety of the game was at full throttle. Another really good performance.

Aaron Nemane - 6

Continually looked to drive at his man, creating a number of openings from the right-hand side for his team during the first half. Was hesitant to do so again in the second half but was still very much involved in the build-up.

Matty Palmer - 7

Was assured and confident with his passing, keeping the game moving in midfield. Solid as always.

Geraldo Bajrami - 6

Another battling midfield performance from the Albanian but was unusually sloppy with his passing all evening.

Ruben Rodrigues - 7

Provided a wonderful assist for the opening goal, with most of the positive play going forward coming through the midfielder during the first half, but his effect on the game dwindled as the fixture went on.

Cedwyn Scott - 6

Was kept quiet by the Bromley defence but was keen to press when losing possession. Never had a real chance of note to have an effort on target.

Macaulay Langstaff - 6

He seemed to do everything but score, which is unlike the Magpies master marksman. Was denied by Lewis Smith and the crossbar in the second half and on another day, he could have had a hat-trick.

SUBS:

Richard Brindley - 6

A late change for Connell Rawlinson in defence.

Quevin Castro - 6

Almost netted the winner but saw his effort somehow saved by Smith.
