Kyle Cameron is set for a "few weeks" on the sidelines after Notts County head coach Ian Burchnall issued an update on the defender's hamstring injury.
The Magpies skipper had to be replaced in the first half of Saturday's 1-1 draw against Yeovil after pulling up while chasing a Glovers attack.
The defender has since had a scan to determine the severity of the injury which, fortunately, has shown no sign of major damage.
But Burchnall admits that Cameron, a contender for the club's player of the season award, will be out for the short term but said it will give his replacement a chance to impress.
"A few weeks I would think," he responded when asked for an update on the defender's injury.
"It came back and you can see something on the hamstring.
"It's not big, but it's enough that it will need maybe two to three weeks I would think just to let it heal.
"He defends the box well, he's strong in the air and also on the ball in terms of bringing the ball out of defence we will miss him.
"He's obviously a top player and he's had a great season so far.
"But there are plenty of other players who are hungry and ready to step in, waiting for an opportunity.
"That's what it's about so they'll get their chance in the upcoming games."
Cameron's absence represents a blow for Notts who face a demanding schedule in the next few weeks as they chase a return to the Football League.
Notts face Solihull Moors tomorrow night before they entertain Wrexham in an FA Trophy quarter-final on Friday night.
Cameron's absence comes at a time when Richard Brindley is also sidelined having picked up a knock in the defeat at Chesterfield.
He has also been ruled out of tomorrow night's game at Solihull which has deprived Burchnall of his first-choice centre-back partnership.
But Alex Lacey and Connell Rawlinson are more than adequate replacements having been the duo that saw Notts finish the 2019/20 campaign with the best defensive record in the league.

They looked destined to be the central defensive duo that faces Solihull tomorrow when Notts are reunited with their former manager Neal Ardley who was sacked by the Magpies in March last year.
Ardley was appointed Moors boss last summer and asked how he thinks the former Magpies boss will approach tomorrow's game, Burchnall was full of praise for his qualities.
"I think Neal's a great guy," he said.
"I've met him several times now. I met him recently at Colin Slater's funeral. He's a really top guy and a really good football coach.
"I think he'll want to win every game he plays and always whenever you play your former club there's something a little bit extra on it, I'm sure about that. But I don't think it will probably change his thought processes or anything like that.
"It'll probably be quite strategic with how he sets up. They are having a really good season."
