Notts County head coach Ian Burchnall hailed a devastating display from his Magpies side after they beat Barnet 6-1 at Meadow Lane.
Eli Sam started the rout as he scored a poacher's finish before Callum Roberts added a second as Notts flew out of the traps in the first half.
Sam put Notts three up with a brilliant finish before Ruben Rodrigues scored the fourth after the interval.
Mason Ephron-Clark scored a consolation for the visitors only for Kyle Wootton and Matty Palmer to hit further goals for the Magpies.
After losing to Grimsby at the weekend, Burchnall said his side's performance was a fine response.
"We were so disappointed after Grimsby and we said it had been a bad 10 days," he said.
"We felt like this was a good opportunity to bounce back at home and the biggest thing for me was to show that character, start positively and on the front foot.
"We did that really well. In the first half, we were ruthless, we attacked relentlessly and we created so many good opportunities.
"In the second half we started well again but there was a patch when we started to overplay.
"But it was hard. They were low and they countered a couple of times. But we picked back up and we looked a goal threat every time we went forward."
