Notts County head coach Ian Burchnall hailed what he described as the most complete performance of the season as his team outclassed Eastleigh in a 2-0 win at Meadow Lane.
The visitors posed little threat, while Cal Roberts and Jayden Richardson stole the show by combining brilliantly on the right to create numerous chances, though Notts had to settle for two goals from Roberts and leading scorer Kyle Wootton.
“We were relentless today and could have had more goals - it was the most complete performance of the season,” said Burchnall, who will be hoping for more of the same when the Magpies entertain fellow promotion hopefuls FC Halifax Town on Tuesday.
“We played some brilliant football and could have had quite a few more goals.
“But it is all about creating chances and then the finishing will come.
“I am delighted at the way we are opening teams up and we created a lot in wide areas today."
Roberts and Richardson combined superbly, and the head coach said: “It is not just about their individual ability but the way they work together.
“They switch positions and while we know what they are going to do, the opposition don’t! They are both great in one v ones.”
Burchnall was also pleased with the way his team managed the game from start to finish.
“This game was right up my street because we didn’t give them any opportunities,” he said.
“Off the ball our movement was very good.”
