A Gedling-based Notts County fan is to complete a 28-mile trek to Chesterfield to raise funds for the club.
Harry Mace (24) plans to undertake the marathon walk from Nottingham to Chesterfield ahead of the National League fixture on Tuesday.
All monies from the walk - which he hopes to complete in nine hours - will go to the Magpies’ Lifeline initiative to commemorate the memory of long-time Notts commentator Colin Slater.
Mace, who produces the Magpie Circle podcast, will leave Meadow Lane at approximately 7am and arrive at Chesterfield’s stadium in time for the 7.45pm kick off.
“All the monies donated will go to the club’s very popular Lifeline initiative,” said Harry.
“One of Colin’s proudest achievements was his role in launching Lifeline over 25 years ago.
“We thought that a sponsored walk was a way to commemorate Colin and generate funds for an initiative and club that was so close to his heart.”
Harry’s route from Nottingham to Chesterfield will go through Hucknall, Kirkby in Ashfield, Huthwaite, Temple Normanton and Chesterfield.
As an added bonus, anyone who donates £5 or more will automatically be entered into a draw to win a place to watch a Notts County first-team training session.
