Notts County boss Luke Williams delivers 'concerning' verdict following incredible Boreham Wood win

Despite booking their place in the National League play-off final, Notts County boss Luke Williams has insisted he has concerns with his group of players following their performance against Boreham Wood.

The Magpies looked down and out when Femi Ilesanmi and Lee Ndlovu gave the visitors a two-goal cushion at the half-time interval.

But an Aden Baldwin double including a 97th minute header followed by Jodi Jones' 119th minute strike secured the most unlikeliest of comebacks - becoming only the second side to come from behind to beat Luke Garrard's side, the other? Wrexham.

Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham, Williams said: "First of all I have concerns from my group as this is a cup game, and we have not had many cup game experience because we went out early in both cup competitions, so it is a different pressure.

"The atmosphere was the one that we wanted and one that we have tried to create for long periods of time and the fans are unbelievable - then we have the atmosphere and a team on the pitch that has been brilliant all season.

"I felt like they were failing the test because they were creating chances but snatching at the chance and then they didn't deal with the counter-attack brilliantly and then make a silly error that leads to a goal so I have a lot of question marks."

With the Magpies 2-0 down at the break, it was only the sixth time Williams' side have been behind at half-time, furthermore showing their powers of recovery in the most dramatic of circumstances.

When detailing the information passed on during his half-time team talk, Williams explained that a difficult conversation was had with his players - further reiterating his expectations of this group of players and where he wants to take them under his guidance.

"This was a big conversation for me and this group because the question was that we are trying to do something here not for one season, we are trying to do something over a long period of time.

"If you want to be successful over a long period of time we need to play in big games a lot, because the better you are the more they want to beat you and the more you are progressing in more competitions.

"The big question was that, I am watching you very closely to see which guys are going to try and impress me when it comes to it and say gaffer I am ready - and that is not a nice question and it's a question I am asking to a group I care about a lot, but we are Notts County, we want to be elite."
