Luke Williams has explained his reasoning behind selecting Tiernan Brooks ahead of Archie Mair in Notts County's most recent National League fixture against Bromley last weekend.
The 20-year-old was handed his Magpies debut following an injury to Sam Slocombe in midweek, marking his first start with a penalty save inside eight minutes before giving one away 10 minutes later, albeit another dubious call by the referee.
Brooks has gone out on loan twice during the campaign, enjoying stints at Hednesford Town and Boston United before returning to Meadow Lane at the end of February.

But his involvement posed questions about the situation with on-loan Norwich City goalkeeper, with Mair having made just one appearance in Notts' FA Trophy defeat to Maidstone in January.
It turned out to be a difficult evening for the 21-year-old as he conceded a penalty before being forced into making a mistake to double the visitors' lead on the night.
And the Notts chief was on hand to detail the difficult decision he had to make before kick-off, explaining that the Canaries loanee was upset about the situation.
"I am sure the guys won't mind me sharing because we try and be as honest with each other.
"Archie was really upset and I owed it to him to explain the reasons and for me, Tiernan has been with us even when he has been on loan, he has trained with us a lot.
"He has done so many repetitions of actions and so many meetings that we go through with Sam after the game, and Tiernan will always sit down and review every action of Sam in the game.
"I really felt like it was such a big call - it is a big game and a huge moment in the campaign, and I felt on the balance of everything I went with Tiernan and it was a tough decision but they are both very good.
"But I think it came down to having those repetitions under his belt, he has seen more actions and been involved for that little bit longer and so I put him there on the day."
