Nottinghamshire pubs rolling back the price of a pint to 6p - yes, really

It sounds too good to be true but certain Nottinghamshire pubs are rolling back the price of a pint to just 6p. That's not a mistake - it's the same price it would have been when the Queen came to the throne in 1952.

The deal applies to a pint of fan-favourite IPA at Greene King Local pubs or Flaming Grill sites to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. The royally tempting offer is available for just one day though, Monday May 30. Punters have to give a secret code word at the bar, which is '1952' to claim their cheap pint.

Participating pubs are:

  • Tap & Tumbler, in Wollaton Street, Nottingham
  • Grosvenor, Mansfield Road, Carrington
  • Rose and Crown, Derby Road, Lenton
  • Lady Bay, Trent Boulevard, Lady Bay
  • Starting Gate, Candle Meadow, Colwick
  • The Beechdale, Beechdale Road, Beechdale
  • Plainsman, Woodthorpe Drive, Mapperley
  • Admiral Rodney, Wollaton Road, Wollaton
  • Meadow Covert, Alford Road, Edwalton
  • The Arrow, Gedling Road, Arnold
  • Friar Tuck, Gedling Road, Arnold
  • The Peacock, Southchurch Drive, Clifton
  • Royal Oak, Main Street, Bulwell
  • Broad Oak, Main Street, Strelley
  • Sherwin Arms, Derby Road, Bramcote
  • Three Ponds, Kimberley Road, Nuthall
  • Blue Bell, Nottingham Road, Attenborough
  • Bowman, Nottingham Road, Hucknall
  • Festival Inn, Ilkeston Road, Trowell
  • Nabb Inn, Nabbs Lane, Hucknall
  • Sun Inn, Derby Road, Eastwood
  • Badger Box, Derby Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield
  • Oak Tree, Southwell Road, Mansfield
  • Talbot Inn, Nottingham Road, Mansfield
  • Fox and Crown, Dalestorth Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield

Andrew Gallagher, marketing director at Greene King Local Pubs, said: “The Platinum Jubilee is a fantastic way for the UK to come together and celebrate our Queen and country, so we wanted to take our customers back to where it all began– 1952, a time when Vera Lynn ruled the charts and pints were only 6p.

“Some of our regulars may even remember watching the Coronation back in 1952, although they may have been too young to enjoy a pint then. We can’t wait to see our customers enjoy this royally good deal on Monday May 30 and look forwarding to celebrating the Platinum Jubilee in all our pubs across the bank holiday weekend.”
