Nottinghamshire pub with beautiful riverside views and great food in need of new operator

A Nottinghamshire pub that's a destination for food lovers needs a new operator. The Bromley at Fiskerton, near Newark, also has picturesque views of the River Trent.

Owners Greene King are looking for a new landlord after the couple who have run it for nine years are leaving to concentrate on their other pub, The Countryman at Kirkby-in-Ashfield. When they took over The Bromley it was given a major refurbishment bringing a more modern feel to the traditional country pub, which has a double-sided log fire at its heart.

As well as the attractive riverside views, it's the food that is a major draw. Assistant manager Michael Hill said: "It's an upmarket, picturesque dining pub with good home-cooked food. It's alongside the riverside so very popular with dog walkers and people passing by for coffee.

"Most people come in for food as opposed to the actual bar area. We serve food in every aspect of the building and outside. A lot of people coming in for drinks end up having food as well.

"Summertime is really busy but even when it's cold we get a lot of walkers coming by and stopping for a bite to eat. It would be good to have the right people come along - that's the main thing."

Currently the Bromley serves a variety of menus. There's lunchtime specials such as roast of the day, pies, and fish are chips. The terrace and lounge bar menu offers baguettes, burgers and jacket potatoes and the à la carte menu includes Moroccan Lamb, Chicken Chardonnay, and Mushroom, Cranberry and Brie Wellington.

Traditional Sunday roasts are popular. There's also a gluten-free menu and special menus for occasions like Mother's Day, where diners can enjoy a two-course lunch for £23.95 or three £28.95.

Diners have given the pub five star reviews. One said: "Saturday lunch out. Food was absolutely incredible, delicious options, cooked to perfection and definitely recommend the steak and ale pie."

Another said: "Absolutely fantastic experience. My six-year-old son is coeliac and to see the words 'coeliac friendly' on the menu is not something we come across often. The food was delicious and I cannot recommend this place enough, not only for coeliacs but for everyone. Michael reassured us that food prepared and cooked would be suitable for my son and made us feel relaxed in knowing how important it is to stay GF. Thank you so much for your hospitality, your knowledge and kindness."

The pub has an annual rent of £38,700 and a forecasted turnover of £657,241. Greene King Pub Partners said: "The Bromley at Fiskerton is set in a delightful location and is the ideal opportunity for a foody entrepreneur to make their mark on this lovely destination pub, that’s also well supported by the locals."

"Despite being highly seasonal, the pub is well supported by the local community and trades at ration of 20:80 in favour of food. Great table service, quality food and beverage and cask ale are all key to the offer here and this should be continued and built upon.

"The pub is well maintained and in good order and really is sat in a delightful location, with picnic benches to the front of the pub, enabling customers to enjoy the scenery on the river banks. Due to the seasonal nature of the business, it is important that any new partner has a good degree of financial acumen to ensure they can maintain a profitable business."

The pub takes its name from Lord Bromley who lived at East Stoke Hall, who wanted to to hunt on both sides of the river, so he bought the pub at Fiskerton and named it the Bromley Arms.
