Nottinghamshire prison staff 'suspended pending investigation' after video released online

Two members of staff at a Nottinghamshire prison have been suspended pending an investigation after video footage published online appeared to show inmates shouted at. A number of clips taken by an inmate from inside a cell at HMP Lowdham Grange which has been run by French company Sodexo since February, have been published on Tik Tok.

Footage, which Nottinghamshire Live has decided to share as a matter of public interest, appears to show two members of staff raising their voice at one of the inmates. The individual filming the alleged incident says: "They are bullying him again."

Loud screams can be heard during the video, alongside the inmate's commentary. He adds: "This is what happens on a daily basis. This is what we have to put up with every day."

The inmate's partner, who wished to remain anonymous, told Nottinghamshire Live: "It is really bad. It is just not right for this to be happening in a jail. It is just not on."

Bosses at the Category B prison, which has hundreds of members of staff, said that two workers had been suspended in connection with the footage.

A spokesperson at HMP Lowdham Grange said: “We have been made aware of the videos.

"We take such allegations very seriously and can confirm that two members of staff have been suspended pending an investigation into allegations of misconduct. We cannot provide any further comment whilst investigations are underway.”
