Nottinghamshire Police statement after Trent Bridge closed due to incident

Police have issued a statement after a busy road had to be closed due to an incident. It comes as emergency services rushed to Trent Bridge, in West Bridgford, at around 5.40pm on Thursday (June 23).

Ambulances, fire engines and police were called over concerns for someone's safety. The bridge was closed for some time on both sides.

Traffic was brought to a standstill. Buses operating in the area also had to divert, according to Nottingham City Transport (NCT).

The incident concluded at around 6.40pm. Traffic resumed as normal.

Sergeant Iain Blackstock, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Police were called to Trent Bridge, West Bridgford, at around 5.40pm today (23 June 2022), following concerns for a man’s safety.

“The bridge was closed for a short time while officers came to the man’s aid. The incident concluded safely without anyone coming to harm and the bridge and surrounding roads have now reopened as normal.”
