Nottinghamshire Police plan more speed checks for busy Rushcliffe roads

Nottinghamshire Police officers have reminded drivers of the four most fatal and common causes of road accidents as they plan more speed checks. On Wednesday, November 23, Rushcliffe South Police officers responded to concerns from residents regarding vehicles speeding on busy roads.

These included the A60 at Costock, Nottingham Road in Bingham and Shelford Road in Radcliffe. The force will be carrying out further speed checks in the coming weeks across Rushcliffe in line with its Christmas Drink/Drug drive campaign, Operation Insoluble.

Additional officers will also be conducting more proactive patrols in the area. Following the recent speed checks, drivers have also been reminded of the fatal four, which are the most common causes of road accidents - despite being easy to avoid. These include staying within the speed limit, not using a mobile phone, always wear a seatbelt, and never drive if you plan to drink alcohol.

Speed limits are set for a reason and the minimum penalty for someone speeding is a fine of £100 and three points added to their licence. To report concerns of speeding in your area or to find out more, visit the Nottinghamshire Police website.
