Officers have issued a warning after seizing a number of illegal items including a knife adapted to cause extra harm. It comes as the force completed a number of warrants across the Radford area.
Offensive weapons, illegal substances and large sums of cash had been seized, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed. Two large knives were among the weapons that were found at one of the addresses.
Police said that one of the knives was sharpened and curved, meaning it had been adapted to cause extra harm. The other was designed to inflict serious injuries by having a large sharp straight edge and a serrated edge – commonly known as a “zombie” knife, the force confirmed.
As part of a plan to combat knife crime, Nottinghamshire Police conduct knife amnesties such as Operation Sceptre, throughout the year at the local station. This gives people the opportunity to deposit such weapons without prosecution and make our communities safer.
People who spot someone with a knife are advised to keep their distance, stay safe and call 999. Those who know someone who habitually carries a knife ‘for their protection’ are instructed to message police.
