Nottinghamshire Police in Mansfield seize BMW from driveway for 'having no insurance'

Police in Mansfield seized a car from a driveway over allegations of having no insurance and illegal number plates. A man had been seen driving the car and refused to give keys to the Operation Reacher team when asked.

The operation is a blend of proactive evidence-led police work and engaging with the community through events and programmes to disrupt crime. The vehicle was checked and was found to have had no insurance since February, and also had illegal number plates, a police spokesperson said.

On their Facebook page, Mansfield District Police posted a picture of what appears to be a BMW on the back of a tow truck. The post adds that this is a warning to drivers within the Mansfield and Worksop area to make sure vehicles are legal, are taxed, have their MOT if required and are insured.

Without them, Mansfield District Police warn they will seize your vehicle. The driver of the car seized in this case had to insure the vehicle and pay a release fee before his car was allowed back on the road again.
