Nottinghamshire Police say they are cracking down on anti-social behaviour which is "blighting" Beeston and Chilwell. The force said targeted action and patrols following recent reports had resulted in the behaviour plummeting by almost a third since August.
However, inspector Mike Ebbins, district commander of the Broxtowe district, said he and colleagues were not getting complacent. “We’ve been made aware anti-social behaviour has spiked again in these areas," he said.
"We have listened to those concerns and are taking positive action to address them. Despite our success in reducing problems through our Operation Potassium work, we are not complacent and cracking down on anti-social behaviour very much remains one of our top priorities."
Operation Potassium was launched in October and has now evolved into ‘Operation Potassium Plus’, which involves Nottinghamshire Police working closely with Broxtowe Borough Council to address the issue. Mr Ebbins continued: “We have reinvigorated our patrols, which will remain in place for the foreseeable future, officers will deal robustly with those causing problems and they will also be patrolling on the trams to help keep people safe and stamp out antisocial behaviour which will not be tolerated.”
