Nottinghamshire Police CCTV appeal after 'opportunistic' mobile phone theft in supermarket

A mobile phone has been stolen from a supermarket shopper in Radford. The victim was shopping at the Aldi store on Radford Boulevard at around 5pm on Tuesday, May 2, when the device was taken.

She has briefly put the phone down when it was then stolen. Officers said the offender did not attempt to hand it into staff at the supermarket and left the store a short time afterwards.

Nottinghamshire Police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in relation to the incident. Police Constable Chris Cutts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We believe this is an opportunistic theft where the offender could have done the right thing and returned the phone to the victim or handed it in to staff.

"Instead he has chosen to steal it. We have now released this image of a man who could help with our inquiries.

"Do you recognise the man in the image? Are you the man in the image? Please get in touch immediately.”

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident number 584 of 2 May 2023. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
