An 'open-minded entrepreneur' has announced plans to open up a new studio in the city centre. Award-winning photographer, Ryan Hall got the keys for his new studio earlier this year and will have a grand opening on April 29.
The studios at Unit 11 on Chaucer Court in the city centre is the ideal location for Ryan to continue thriving in his profession and he says he has plans to help other creatives.
Determined not to become a product of his environment, one ‘open minded entrepreneur’ from Hyson Green is opening his own studio. The award-winning photographer opened up about his love for taking people’s photos and getting to know his clients.

On February 3 2023, Ryan got the keys to his new studio and there are many plans for his new space. Ryan, 33, won Black Businessman of the Year in 2022 at the Black Achievers awards hosted at the East Midlands Conference Centre.
Helping people build their portfolios, being a photographer is more than just taking photos to the 33-year-old. Speaking about why his success is important to him, Ryan said: “Growing up in Hyson Green came with stereotypes, I was from a deprived area and I wanted to prove I could be more.
“It’s like in America when people say they made it out of the ghetto but it’s possible. I’ve been doing photography since the age of 12 before, I had no interest in it, I just wanted to play on my Playstation but as soon as the camera was in my hand and I learnt how to develop, I fell in love with it.”
Ryan studied media at the Adams College in Nottingham and for the past 10 years, he’s had his own businesses. Specialising in mainly portrait and beauty shots, for the past 10 years, Ryan has created a ‘respectful business.’
He said: “As well as doing my own photo shoots here, I want to hire the space out to other creatives too. Ever since I got the keys, I’ve had lots of enquiries and everything is falling into place. I also have my own podcast: Let’s Talk with Ryan and a social media agency where I manage customer’s social media accounts."
Ryan continued: “I’m an open-minded entrepreneur, the best part of this job is that it’s a simple job where you can make a lot of money but it’s more than that too. I always get to know my clients, they think that it will just be a two-hour photoshoot but everything usually takes around 4 hours because I'll get to know them, we'll have banter so they're comfortable and themselves when they're having their photo taken."
Ryan, who makes it his mission to make something of himself, said: "I was 'gassed' when I won the Black Businessman of Year award, all my friends and family were ringing me too because they know how hard I've worked it was a black tie event, my mum came and a guy stopped me at the awards to say 'this is only the beginning.'"
