A Nottinghamshire man has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after punching a woman in the head during a campaign of harassment and bullying. David Bush, 36, of Fourth Avenue in Edwinstowe, repeatedly beat and threatened a woman in his car in the early hours of September 24 last year.
She was able to escape after being punched in the head, with the incident coming at the end of a nine-month ordeal of harassment, bullying and controlling behaviour. Bush also threw a brick through the woman's front door whilst he was on the run from police.
Bush appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday (June 27) and after pleading guilty to assault, controlling and coercive behaviour and criminal damage, he was jailed for 30 months. Detective Constable Oliver Bennett, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Bush is a violent and controlling bully and I am pleased he has now been jailed for this appalling sequence of offending.
"As a very large and powerful man, he made a choice to viciously attack a far smaller woman who had little hope of defending herself. Ever since this attack happened she has shown remarkable resilience and courage and I hope this sentence provides her with some degree of comfort."
