Nottinghamshire drug dealer with 'magic mushrooms' and large bags of cannabis in van jailed

A drug dealer has been jailed after police found large amounts of cannabis and cash inside his van. Andrew Stainton, 46, was pulled over and arrested on the A1 near Fernwood on July 23, 2021.

Officers investigated further after noticing a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle and found a large bag of the Class B drug under the driver’s seat. A large quantity of cash was found in a wallet and bags containing white powder and plant matter, suspected to be magic mushrooms, were also discovered.

Stainton, of Burringham Road, Scunthorpe, was subsequently charged and went on to plead guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class B drug (cannabis), possession of a Class A drug (psilocin) and possession of a Class B drug (amphetamine). He was jailed for 12 months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Monday (November 14).
