More people living in a Nottinghamshire district have been informed they will be eligible for a £150 energy rebate, as part of a bid to help more people pay bills. A letter sent to residents in the Ashfield District Council area has detailed how funding is available to support council tax payers who could not get a rebate at first.
The first rebate of £150 was for people who live in properties that pay council tax in band A to band D. But this has now been extended to some that pay council tax in band E to band H properties.
Any Ashfield council tax payer in any property in those higher bandings who currently claims a council tax reduction (CTR) will be eligible for a £150 energy rebate payment. And all households who pay council tax in a band E property also qualify for the rebate payment, even if they do not claim a CTR.

If the criteria is met, you have lived in the property after April 1 2022, and still live there currently and are the named person on the 2022/23 council tax demand, then the rebate will be received. If council tax is paid by direct debit, Ashfield District Council is hopeful of making the rebate payment 'fairly quickly', according to a letter sent to residents.
Bank details would need to be provided if council tax is not paid by direct debit though. An external verification process would then need to follow, meaning the payment would take longer.
All applications must be submitted by midnight on August 31, and no applications will be accepted after this time. To apply, go to www.ashfield.gov.uk and follow the instructions provided under the section 'council tax rebate 2022'.
