Nottinghamshire Christmas markets announced ahead of the festive season

Tis' the season as several of Nottinghamshire's most popular Christmas markets have announced launch dates and seasonal events for 2022. Several are due to set out their stalls in November.

There are plenty of events from carol singing to festive cocktails to mulled wine stalls for anyone looking to get into the holiday spirit. While there are more set to be announced in the coming weeks, here are five Christmas markets to pop in the diary.

Old Market Square

Old Market Square

When it comes to the bigger events, it doesn't get more Christmassy than the market in Old Market Square. This year is set to be no different with all the lights, food, drink and stalls you could possibly need. Previous years have seen the market transform into a winter wonderland complete with a skating rink and ice bar.

The market will take place along Low Row and Smithy Row offering everything from mulled wine to cheese to quirky gift ideas. The market will launch on Tuesday, November 15 and runs until Saturday, December 31.

The Garage

Chilwell

The Garage market is a great spot for finding locally made treasures and grabbing a quick cuppa while treating yourself to something sweet. The themed evening events have become a firm favourite among food fans in Nottingham who are keen to pick up a pint and experience something a bit different.

The Christmas beer hall will launch on Saturday, November 19 bringing an evening winter wonderland to the Garage filled with mouthwatering festive feasts from street food traders and winter cocktails such as Bailey's and Glenfiddich hot chocolates. If Bailey's isn't your thing then there will be plenty of mulled wine to keep you warm.

The market which runs during the day, will run from December 4 bringing a host of local traders. It's the perfect place to pick up that gift, or last-minute secret Santa present you forgot to get.

Mapperley Makers Christmas Market

St. Jude's Church

Mapperley Makers are hosting a market where you can nab that perfect handmade gift or vintage items for loved ones Given there are over 40 stalls at the event, visitors will be pleased to note there will be a pop-up cafe where you can get a well-deserved coffee and a slice of cake.

The event will be held on Saturday, November 5 with doors open from 11pm until 4pm.

Christmas Market in Mansfield

West Gate Mansfield

Christmas is coming to Mansfield early with the market in the town centre. There will be over 20 chalets with festive foods and drink available at West Gate. The daily market will be open from Saturday, November 26 until Wednesday, December 21 from 10 am until 5 pm.

As well as a host of independent traders, there will be plenty of festive foods on offer including German hot dogs, waffles and pulled pork. There will be entertainment such as carol signing by local schools and musicians along with free activities.

Troops fruit and vegetable wholesalers, Mansfield, is providing free ‘carrots for Rudolph’ throughout the period. There will also be a Christmas light switch on Sunday, November 27 to get the town into the festive spirit.

Library Christmas Markets

Sutton in Ashfield and Mansfield Libraries

Both the Sutton in Ashfield and Mansfield libraries will be hosting a Christmas market with independent traders on November 19 and Saturday, November 26 from 10 am until 4 pm.

The Sutton in Ashfield event will see independent will bring together some of the best in local bakers and vendors selling handmade items to get visitors in the mood for the holiday season. There will also be a dementia-friendly screening of White Christmas on December 7.
