Part of England will soon be covered in heavy snow with more than 15 inches falling in January - while Nottingham faces more showers, according to weather reports. It will land in the second half of January when Arctic air could sweep in and force temperatures down to a freezing -13C in some parts.
So far in 2023, the weather has been unseasonably mild compared to the bitterly cold temperatures we experienced just before Christmas. But by mid-January this could all change as forecasters say it is set to feel bitterly cold again, as reported by The Mirror.
Maps from WXCharts show heavy snow can be expected on January 20 for Scotland and there will also be flurries across the country over the subsequent days including down to the south coast.

In Nottinghamshire, there is a rather mixed weather forecast next week, with the county staying mild despite some light and heavy showers. The Met Office has forecast some sunny spells breaking through the wet weather on Wednesday and Friday.
The forecast reads: "Mostly dry start, blustery showers during the day, clearing later." Monday could see a low of 4C, while Tuesday could peak at 12C.
However, in just two weeks, temperatures are expected to drop to -13C and, -7C in northern England, with the south also seeing below freezing conditions, according to the charts.
BBC weather forecaster Helen Willetts said: “So it has been a mild, wet and windy start to 2023 and that trend will continue for us really for the next five to 10 days."
