An IT issue at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has been resolved after significant issues and delays caused. On Wednesday, November 23, long ambulance waits and overcrowding at Nottingham Emergency Department were caused due to the IT issues.
The Trust confirmed today (Thursday, November 24) that the issues experienced have since been resolved and they are now able to process and report on blood samples as normal. In an update on the website, a spokesperson for the Trust also stated: " The position in our Emergency Department (ED) at the Queen’s Medical Centre is much improved.
"We would like to thank our health and social care partners for their support and our staff for their continued hard work. Please attend your planned procedure or outpatient appointment as normal today, unless you have been contacted."
The Emergency Department remains open for people with life-threatening conditions and injuries. Due to yesterday's IT issues, some planned procedures and outpatient appointments needed to be postponed at Queen's Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital.
This was due to the IT issues slowing down the clinical decision making by the hospitals by "significantly impacting" its abilities to process and report on blood samples.
