Nottingham to be hotter than Barcelona today as temperatures set to hit 17C

Nottingham will be hotter than Barcelona today, Wednesday, March 23, in what is set to be one of the hottest days of the year so far. According to the Met Office temperatures will hit 17 degrees.

Continuing a warm and sunny week, temperatures for Nottingham will peak at around 2pm, and will remain at 16 degrees by 6pm. By contrast, people in Barcelona can expect temperatures to reach 14°C.

And the rest of the week looks good for Nottingham, with sunshine throughout and highs of between 15 and 17 degrees until Monday, March 28. 'Another warm and sunny day' is how the weather experts sum up the outlook, adding that today in the East Midlands should start off with "mist or fog patches possible until mid-morning, and conditions will remain hazy along the coast but otherwise sunny and warm."

It is said that in the East Midlands "cloud will bubble up in a few spots into the afternoon, bringing a very low chance of an isolated shower." But you would be unlucky to catch a shower as there is a less than 5 per cent chance of rain today according to the experts.

Highs will again reach 17 on Thursday, but temperatures will cool slightly as we approach next week. Friday and Saturday are predicted to see highs of 16, while Sunday and Monday drop to 15 and 14 respectively.

Yesterday (March 22) Nottingham was hotter than Athens, with temperatures also reaching 17 degrees in the city, in what was the hottest day of the year so far.
