A primary school in Nottingham has been rated ‘good’ by Ofsted after being judged to require improvement eight years ago. Highbank Primary School, which continues to improve, is located on Winscombe Mount, Clifton.
It was concluded that in 2015, the school required improvements but after joining the Transform Trust in 2017 received a ‘good’ Ofsted judgement. Under the new Ofsted framework, the school is delighted to have received a positive grading yet again.
Highbank’s Executive Headteacher Lee Noble said:“I am delighted that our school, our children and our dedicated staff have been recognised in such a positive light in our latest Ofsted report. Our collaborative approach and commitment as a team has created a learning environment that our parents and community can be proud of.”

Inspectors were impressed with a well-organised and ‘relevant’ curriculum shown throughout the school with early years children learning basic phonics sounds, quickly. It was said that older children have an ‘enthusiasm for reading which shines through the entire curriculum.’
By the time children leave Key Stage Two, they have a good attainment in reading, writing and maths.
Lee Noble continued: “The Highbank community deserves the very best from its school and we are ambitious in our approach and in our plans for the future. With the continual hard work and dedication of every member of our ambitious staff team, we can get there.
"They are the catalyst for this journey of improvement and it would not have been possible without them. These are the people that make the biggest difference to our children and their education.”
It is noted that children are ‘happy at school’ and children with learning difficulties are fully included in the classroom. Transform Trust CEO Rebecca Meredith added: “Lee, Head of School, Lisa and the Highbank team are committed to the children and their community; I am sure they will continue to strive for excellence in all that they do.
“Ofsted has rightly recognised their efforts and improvement to date as well as the ambitions they have for the future. The Transform Trust family of schools strive to make every day the very best for all of our children.”
