Pupils at a Nottingham primary school have been embracing trees as their way of connecting with nature. Scotholme Primary School in Hyson Green is taking part in Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust's 30 Days Wild challenge, where they must do something wild every day in June.
Year 2 pupils have been spending time outside listening to each other read out loud as well as grabbing a quick hug with a tree in between. It has proven fun for the students but it is also a great way for them to improve their health and wellbeing by getting out in nature.
Year 3 also joined in the act of tree hugging after they spent time outside studying leaves and sketching them. Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust considers outdoor learning vital for school ages to start to build a hands-on education and appreciation of the natural world.
