Nottingham's Filthy Vegan announces location of new takeaway among big names

Nottingham's Filthy Vegan has gone from cooking at home to serving hundreds of people at Glastonbury in the space of just over three years. Now the duo behind the popular Filthy Kebab are gearing up to open a takeaway at one of the region's biggest shopping centres.

James Freeman and Joe Johnson have announced that the first of two new sites will be at East Midlands Designer Outlet just over the Derbyshire border near junction 28 of the M1. The Filthy Vegan counter will be at the Food Court, alongside big name brands including Burger King, Subway, Starbucks and Chopstix.

James said: "We are really privileged to be here alongside some of the world's leading franchises." An opening date has yet to be announced but the Filthy Vegan will be hot on the heels of another local business opening there. Doughnotts launched a kiosk East Midlands Designer Outlet last month.

Joe said: "For us to open here is a dream come true and is a result of three-and-a-half years of hard work. We can’t wait to see everyone there."

The Filthy Vegan, the only vegan food stall at Nottingham Beach in Old Market Square this summer, is famed for its healthy take on a traditional kebab. Seasoned soya meat comes with a naan bread, salad, hot sriracha sauce and garlic mayo. And at 600 calories it's half the usual amount.

They started out by taking order through Instagram and Facebook pages and making the food at James' home in Netherfield. The response surpassed all expectations.

The range expanded to include Moving Mountains hot dogs and Louisiana Chick'n Burgers, plus a variety of vegan sweet treats such as doughnuts. They also do a gluten-free kebab.

Since the business launched in February 2019 they have attended events all over the UK, festivals, weddings and the Winter Wonderland Christmas market in Nottingham. The second location will be revealed at a later date.

They are now recruiting for the new locations with a variety of jobs from managerial positions to weekend roles. Anyone interested can apply to recruitment@thefilthyvegan.co.uk
