Nottingham road re-opens hours after crash prompted investigation

Officers are investigating a collision between a police vehicle and a car in Nottingham. The incident in Edwards Lane, Sherwood, was first reported shortly before 9.30am on Thursday, November 24.

An officer was checked for injuries at the scene by paramedics. The road was shut in both directions for several hours before reopening at around 3.30pm.

Chief Inspector Riz Khan, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers were called to Edwards Lane, Sherwood, shortly before 8.45am today (November 24, following reports of a collision between a police vehicle and a car. An officer was checked for injuries at the scene by our colleagues at East Midlands Ambulance Service.

“An investigation is under way to determine exactly what happened." Multiple police cars attended the scene following the incident.

Sherwood resident Karen Davidson, 34, had an appointment at the hospital nearby. She said: "I came out and there were all these police here and I had no idea what was going on."

She added that police were ushering people to the correct place at the top and bottom of the road. Nottinghamshire Police has asked anyone with information or dash cam footage to call 101 and quote incident number 136 of 24 November 2022.
