A Nottinghamshire pub which wowed customers with its gastro food has closed for good. The owners of The Tailors Arms in Wilford blamed the impact of the pandemic and rising costs.
Co-owner Theo Tsiolas said: "The aftermath of the pandemic and being closed for nearly 12 months really decimated the business. We haven’t been able to renegotiate with the landlord unfortunately which left us with no options."
The pub, in Wilford Lane, was known for its Sunday roasts, huge portions of fish and chips and stylish surroundings. It opened in 2018 after a £150,000 revamp of what had previously been the Wilford Green Pub & Kitchen. Diners described the food as superb, incredible and excellent.

One said: "We had a Sunday Lunch at the Tailors and it was INCREDIBLE! One of the nicest roasts I’d had in a long time. I’m vegetarian and their veggie option was delicious. Others in the group had mixed roasts all of which were generous portions and looked just as tasty. We will be back again very soon."
The news was announced on Facebook on the final day of trading, just before the bank holiday weekend. The post said: "It is with much sadness that we announce that The Tailors Arms will be closing its doors for the final time this week. With rising business costs and the effects of the pandemic, it was impossible to keep trading in the current conditions.
"We have tried tirelessly behind the scenes to renegotiate our lease but were unsuccessful, much to our disappointment. We would like to thank all of our wonderful customers for their incredible support over the years, we really do appreciate you all! Thanks for the incredible memories."
As well as an à la carte menu, The Tailors Arms also served brunch and ran Y Dough Pizzas from the site.
