A Nottingham park has been recognised as one of the UK's best. Wollaton Park in Nottingham has been chosen as one of the nation's ten favourite parks by members of the public.
The park was one of those listed by the Green Flag People's Choice Awards, as voted for by the public. Almost 18,000 members of public took part in the vote to officially name the ten "high-quality green spaces" as their favourite Green Flag Award parks.
Nottingham City Council leader David Mellen, said: "Wollaton has been voted a Top 10 UK park in the 2022 Green Flag People's Choice Awards. Almost 18,000 people took part in the vote to officially name Wollaton and nine other high-quality green spaces across the country as their favourite.

"It’s fantastic news that Wollaton has been recognised by the public as their favourite park. Good green space is vital to help improve people’s health and wellbeing and it’s important they are accessible, well-managed and maintained and offer something for everyone within the community.
"Wollaton Park really does have everything, from cafes to adventure play areas, lots of trails, the botanical and formal gardens, and so much more. I would like to congratulate all the team and volunteers at Wollaton for their hard work and passion in making the park such a fantastic and well-loved destination."
The park was the only winner from Nottinghamshire. Other winners were Cassiobury Park in Watford, Margam Park in Neath Port Talbot, Oxhey Activity Park and Oxhey Park in Watford, Strathaven Park in South Lanarkshire, University of Essex Wivenhoe Park, Valentines Park in Ilford, Victoria Park in Tower Hamlets, Warley Woods in Sandwell.
Green Flag Award Manager Paul Todd added: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved in making these ten parks worthy of a People’s Choice Award. These are vital green spaces for their communities. These awards are testament to all the hard work of staff and volunteers, who do so much to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
