On New Year's Day, many shoppers flood to the stores to be the first to grab discounted products at the start of the January sales. While some shops open their doors to customers, others stay closed to give their staff time off for working over the busy festive period.
If you’re a shopper and planning on heading into Nottingham on New Year’s Day, it’s probably a good idea to check which places are closed. Here’s a list of stores closed on January 1.
B&M Bargains
B&M Bargains' stores will be closed on New Year’s Day. The stores will reopen on January 2, from 8am to 8pm.

Poundland
After closing all 800 of stores Christmas Day and Boxing Day, Poundland will be closed on New Year’s Day. Customers are advised to check Poundland’s website to see when their stores are open on other days over Christmas.
Aldi
All Aldi stores will be closed on New Year’s Day in order to thank staff for their hard work. Most Aldi supermarkets will be open from 8am to 6pm on New Year’s Eve and will close on New Year’s Day.
John Lewis
Department store chain John Lewis has confirmed its shops will be closed this New Year’s Day.
