Nottingham music festival Beat the Street to return to city centre

One of Nottingham's best-loved music festivals is returning to the city centre to raise vital funds for the Framework Housing Association. Beat the Streets will take place on Sunday, January 29, across multiple venues.

More than 25 acts have been confirmed for the festival which will feature performances from Ferocious Dog, Lawnmower Deth, Palm Reader, Girlband and The Chase. Winners of the Future Sound of Nottingham, Alt Blk Era, will also perform at the event.

Festival fans will be able to visit different venues such as Rock City, Rescue Rooms and Bodega to catch their favourite acts. All proceeds from ticket sales, the bar and merchandise will be donated directly to Framework.

Funds from the festival have gone towards keeping the Sneinton Hermitage shelter open all year round which accommodates more than 60 high-risk service users, employing two full-time mental health nurses to provide support for over 1,500 service users with complex needs including substance misuse. Funding also helped to open Mechanics House, which provides accommodation and resettlement support. Tickets are on sale online starting at £10 for a day pass.

Nottingham folk punk band, Ferocious Dog, will headline this year's festival. They are well known for their support of homeless charities as they regularly encourage fans to bring foodbank donations to their shows.

Thrash metal band Lawnmower Deth will also return to Beat the Streets along with British hardcore group, Palm Reader. Nottingham band Lawnmower Deth formed in 1987 and have performed at Download Festival six times.

Beat the Streets has been running since 2018 and has managed to raise £320,000 over the years for charity with over 15,000 tickets sold. It is well known for featuring some of the very best local and emerging East Midlands bands and previous festivals have included performances from Sleaford Mods, Jake Bugg, Do Nothing and Saint Raymond.

DHP festival booker Joseph Patten said: “Beat The Streets is such an important event for us, the team behind the festival is passionate and dedicated to putting on an event that really helps our community. We were all ecstatic to extend our total to £320,000+ during 2022 and are excited to see where we can get to after our next event."

"I’m delighted to welcome Ferocious Dog back as headliners, they played our first event and their Rock City shows are always full of energy – it’ll definitely be a good one," he added.

On behalf of Framework, head of fundraising and communications Claire Eden, said: "There could never be a better time to raise funds to help people who are homeless and to provide additional mental health support for people who need it most.

"Beat The Streets is Framework’s biggest and most well-known partner-led fundraising event and we are delighted that DHP Family wishes to continue its outstanding support for our work in Nottingham and beyond."

Other performers confirmed for this year include: 7th in Line, Buenos Treehouse, Catmilk, Electric Pets, Express Office Portico, Fat Bamboo, George Gretton, Goodgoodbye, Headsticks, Herd, JACK WOLFF & TY HEALY, Joey Collins and the Bushido Code, Lawnmower Deth, Left Hand Lane, Lilac Grove, Nactus Kunan, Palm Reader, Sharp Class, Stuart Pearce, Tash Bird, The Avion, The Big Sad, The Chase, The People Assembly, Vona Vella.
