An inquest has opened into the death of a baby in Nottingham. Abdul Bashiri died aged one at the Queen's Medical Centre on December 27 last year.

Opening the inquest into Abdul's death at Nottingham Council House on Wednesday (March 22), assistant coroner Amanda Bewley said the baby was identified by his father, Abdul Mobin Bashiri, after his death.

Ms Bewley said a post-mortem had been carried out and a medical cause of death would be established at the next hearing on June 23. "I'd like to express my condolences to the family of Abdul Bashiri and everyone who loved him," she said.
