Nottingham gets mention on Love Island with Bru-C soundtrack but Ikenna Ekwonna is 'non-existent'

A rapper who hails from Nottingham has made it onto hit ITV show Love Island with his song 'Paradise'. Bru-C, the first rapper to sell out Rock City, featured in the very first episode of the latest season.

Bru-C, who has taken the music industry by storm recently with his baseline hits, regularly references Nottingham and Long Eaton, where he grew up, in his songs. And his prowess only continues as his recent hit 'Paradise' made it onto the first episode of Love Island which aired on Monday, June 6.

Responding Bru-C said on Twitter: "Lol as if Paradise was just on Love Island." It is not the first time Nottingham has been mentioned on the show this year. Ikenna Ekwonna, one of the show's contestants, is also from the city.

The 23-year-old pharmaceutical salesman was paired up with Indiyah but the pair didn't quite seem to be the best of match-ups from the public. In episode two Indiyah revealed she had not felt that 'spark' yet, but said she had perhaps been a little harsh on the Nottingham lad from day one.

In the latest episode on Wednesday, June 8, however, fans of the show took to Twitter to express anger at his lack of screen time. Ikenna rarely featured in the episode, which began from 9pm. One Twitter user said: "Ikenna non-existent."

Another added: "They're featuring Ikenna like he's an extra on the show." However one fan, who caught a glimpse of the 23-year-old during a very brief appearance, praised his eccentric dress sense - his outfits having regularly included an array of vibrant Crocs.

They said: "Sorry Ikenna and Dami's dress sense. *Chef's kiss*." A conversation between the pair late in the episode, which could not be heard, also led to some interest among viewers. Maybe Nottingham's own Ikenna will feature more prominently in episode four? Only time will tell.
