Nottingham Forest without four key players for Liverpool after FA Cup injury blow

Nottingham Forest will be without several key players when they take on Liverpool this weekend. The Reds take on Forest in the quarter-final of the FA Cup on Sunday, having reached this stage of the competition for the first time since 2015.

Jurgen Klopp’s side saw off Norwich City in the previous round to reach the quarter-final. Elsewhere, Forest claimed a win over Championship rivals Huddersfield Town to set up a tie against Liverpool.

Liverpool will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold for the trip to the City Ground, after he suffered a hamstring injury in the recent win over Arsenal. Mohamed Salah will also be assessed, with it’s not known if Kostas Tsimikas and James Milner have recovered from illness.

For Forest, they will be without at least four players for the visit of Liverpool. Their recent victory over Queens Park Rangers in midweek saw another injury added to the treatment room.

Forest boss Steve Cooper has confirmed that centre-back Scott McKenna will be out for several weeks, meaning he is a definite absentee for the Liverpool clash. He is joined by fellow central defender Steve Cook, left-back Max Lowe and striker Lewis Grabban as being unavailable.

“He’s got a hamstring problem and is going to be out for four to five weeks,” Cooper told Nottinghamshire Live .

“It’s not ideal, but as we said with the injuries we picked up in the game before, these things do happen at this time of the season - or any time of the season.

“You have to take it as it comes, look after the boys who are injured but focus on the ones who are ready to play the next one. It’s a blow for Scott, because everyone has seen he’s been having an outstanding season for us, so for it to be stopped in its tracks is disappointing for him, more than anything. But hopefully he’ll be back sooner rather than later.

“I’m not the only manager sitting here who has picked up injuries over the recent weeks and months. I’m not going to cry about it, I’m just going to get on with it.”
