Nottingham Forest will not 'die wondering' as they go toe to toe with Fulham and Aleksandar Mitrovic

Nottingham Forest could move to within two points of Bournemouth if they can beat already promoted Fulham at Craven Cottage tonight.

However, that will be no easy task with the Reds needing a draw to secure their Championship play-off place. We discussed the prospects of a win and how Forest will go about the game on the latest Garibaldi Red podcast with Matt Davies, Michael Temple and club legend Frank Clark.

Here is part of the conversation. You can listen to the full episode here.

How likely is it Forest do catch Bournemouth and finish second?

FC : "It's a very, very difficult thing for us to do. We've only got one home game, we've got three away. It's very difficult to win away from home in the Championship - in any league in England.

"It's a massive ask to pull the points back to Bournemouth. I'm not writing it off. Looking at the two options I don't think it's likely to happen. Steve (Cooper) won't be thinking of that. He'll be looking at a very difficult game at Fulham and getting them prepared.

"Once that game is over he'll look at Swansea. That's how he operates and that's a great strength in a manager."

Does it make it easier that Fulham are already promoted?

FC: "It's hard to say. You can't go there thinking it will be easy because they're promoted. They're a very good team and the spotlight will be on them so they'll want to put on a show. They'll want to show how good they are. It won't make any difference to how Steve sets up the team.

MT : "Fulham have 99 league goals this season. Forest and Bournemouth are next with 66. I don't think they're on the beach. They'll want to finish the season on a high and Mitrovic is motivated to rewrite the record books.

"It's a really challenging game but I know we won't go there for a draw. If we go there with attacking intent and get picked off then so be it. I'd hate for us to die wondering with the chance of automatic promotion still there. They're the class team in the division, they've got the best striker in the division."

Will Forest make specific plans for Fulham's 41-goal striker Aleksandar Mitrovic?

FC: "I don't think Steve will. We'll want to play our own game. Mitrovic is a real problem.

"I've got friends in London so I might ask if there's any chance of kidnapping him for a week to keep him out the way! He's been an incredible success this season.

"Forest will be aware of that but the way our three centre-backs have been playing, I'm fairly confident they can deal with anybody."

Will there be any rotation from Forest?

FC: "I don't know. Without seeing training I'd be reluctant to comment on rotation. Ideally it would be a good thing at this stage. Only Steve and his staff will know if that is best.

"Steve has picked the same team more or less over the last two or three months and we've not really lost a game."

MT : "The big dilemma is when to bring Cook back in. Figueiredo has made a couple of mistakes but otherwise has been outstanding. He was very good at the weekend and I've got no concern about him.

"Cooper was rotating at one point when Lowe was playing. There was good reason to get Garner, Yates, Colback and Zinckernagel in midfield.

"They can't do that now but Lowe won't find it easy to get back in given how well Colback has done. I don't expect changes but he will want to get Cook back in."

FC : "Jack has done a fantastic job. He's playing as a left-wing back. That's very difficult.

"He scored a decent goal last week! I was worried when Lowe got injured. I couldn't see an obvious replacement but Jack has done a really professional job."
