Nottingham Forest were 'interested' in signing Leeds United rising star before snub

Nottingham Forest were reportedly interested in signing Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville in the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old has been at Elland Road since joining from Feyenoord in 2020. He hit the headlines by scoring a last-minute winner against Liverpool at Anfield at the weekend.

Jesse Marsch's men beat the Reds 2-1 and Summerville scored his second goal in two games. And he apparently caught the eye of Forest during the summer.

According to The Athletic, Forest were "understood to have been aggressive in talking about permanent bids for Summerville". However, the Dutch winger was said to not be interested in leaving Elland Road "full-time." The Reds then went on to complete a total of 23 signings that window.

His consistent performances in pre-season is said to have impressed Marsch, who found it "harder and harder to overlook him."

The American boss said of Summerville: "We know we have a good player on our hands. Honestly, the biggest thing with him is discipline, professionalism, work ethic, maximising the potential of what it is in this world of professional football — and not thinking about all the other stuff that gets in the way of really developing."
