Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool Preview, Prediction, Team News, Lineups

Here’s our Nottingham Forest Vs Liverpool preview, prediction, team news and confirmed lineups ahead of Tuesday’s Premier League clash at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest Vs Liverpool Preview

Liverpool made up for their 1-0 loss at Tottenham in the EFL Cup semi-final first-leg with a 4-0 thumping of Accrington in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s long-range rocket was the pick of the goals, as Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa, and Jayden Danns also scored.

Despite looking leggy and off the pace in their 2-2 draw with Manchester United last time out, Liverpool remain six points clear at the top of the league.

And with manager Arne Slot able to rotate heavily at the weekend, the Reds should be refreshed for their return to league action.

They face a Nottingham Forest side who inflicted their only Premier League defeat of the season so far back in September.

Forest’s 1-0 win at Anfield shocked almost everyone, but they have since backed it up with win after win.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have won their last seven in a row and sit a lofty third in the table.

Level with second-placed Arsenal, a win for Forest could see them move up to second and close the gap to just three points.

Forest beat Luton 2-0 in their FA Cup third round tie, and will travel to Exeter City in round four.

Liverpool are also making the long trip down to Devon, and will visit Plymouth Argyle – who stunned Brentford on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest Vs Liverpool Team News

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez will miss Tuesday’s game with a suspension.

The Uruguayan picked up a fifth yellow card against Manchester United and must watch on from the sidelines.

He joins Joe Gomez as Liverpool’s only unavailable players.

Defender Gomez is out with a hamstring problem, while Jarell Quansah and Dominik Szoboszlai both shook off illness to play against Accrington.

But both are likely to drop out of the starting XI as Arne Slot rotated his first-choice squad back in for a huge fixture.

Forest also boast an almost empty treatment room after Danilo made his comeback from a long-term ankle injury.

Ibrahim Sangare (hamstring) is the only man keeping the Forest physios busy at present, allowing Santo to rest his key players against Luton.

We can therefore expect both sides to go into this one fully confident and firing, which will hopefully lead to a great spectacle.

Nottingham Forest Vs Liverpool Lineups

Nottingham Forest: Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams; Anderson, Yates; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz

Nottingham Forest Vs Liverpool Prediction

Forest have defied all expectations this season and thoroughly deserve to be third in the table.

They will not fear Liverpool, having already handed them their only defeat of the season.

But with Arne Slot able to rest his stars at the weekend, we don’t expect the same sluggish performance the Reds turned out against Manchester United.

It should be a great game, but we reckon Liverpool will edge it.

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-2 Liverpool
