Head coach Steve Cooper insists Nottingham Forest’s belief has not been damaged by the precarious position they find themselves in.
Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United made it three losses on the spin for the Reds and extended their winless streak to 10 games. They remain 18th in the Premier League table, albeit by virtue of an inferior goal difference to that of Everton above them.
With seven matches remaining, time is running out for Cooper’s side to turn their form around. And the challenges don’t get any easier, with a trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool next on the horizon.

“It’s a really difficult run,” said Cooper. “I will speak quite openly, I’m not going to hide away from what is a really poor run and league position.
“I will say how I feel. We are taking responsibility for the position we are in and are trying to improve, but clearly we have got to do more - me as well - than what we have been doing.
“We’ve got to continue to try to find a better way. We have made some individual mistakes in recent weeks which have been costly, this game included. Decision-making is really important at this level.
“But you didn’t see a team of players out there who are hiding or not giving a good account of themselves. But all of us have got to do more, and that starts with me. It’s as simple as that.
“I’ve no problem with the effort or the lads carrying out what was the plan. I don’t think you’re seeing a set of players that are not trying or are hiding. You’re not seeing that, which can happen when you’re on the run we’re on. There’s nothing good about the run we’re on or the league position.
“The guys have obviously come off disappointed again. But we’re doing everything we can to stop this run and to turn it around, but we’ve got to do more.”
