Nottingham Forest transfers: Man Utd's Henderson hope as Lolley lifts lid

It is now less than four weeks until the transfer market reopens again on New Years' Day and Nottingham Forest supporters can anticipate the club to be rather less active than during the summer this time around.

Gustavo Scarpa is already pencilled in to arrive on January 1, though, and is not expected to be the only incoming. Outgoings are also likely to be in the offing as Forest look to address the lack of minutes for certain players on the fringes of Steve Cooper's squad.

NottinghamshireLive takes a look at the latest names being linked with a move to and from the Reds ahead of the new year.

£10m transfer blow

Nottingham Forest have been dealt a transfer blow amid reported interest to sign Huddersfield Town midfielder Etienne Camara.

The Reds are among Premier League sides, including Leicester City and Brighton, credited with an interest in the 19-year-old. Recent reports claimed the club could 'try their luck' when the transfer window opens in the new year.

Camara is under contract until 2024 after Huddersfield triggered a one-year extension. The Terriers are understood to have valued their player at around £10million.

Henderson hopes

Nottingham Forest loanee Dean Henderson reportedly "does not want to return" to Old Trafford at the end of this season's loan spell.

Henderson, 25, has started all 15 matches in the Premier League so far this season after arriving at the City Ground on loan from Man United. Four clean sheets have followed and 30 goals conceded, a tally aided by the Reds goalkeeper's impressive performances.

This form, alongside an untimely injury to Jordan Pickford, saw the one-cap England international recalled by Gareth Southgate in September for a pair of Nations League matches against Italy and Germany. Henderson remained an unused substitute for both and ultimately missed out on a place in the World Cup squad. Still, it nonetheless represented a recall to the national team for the first time since last summer's European Championship.

Lolley lifts lid

Former Nottingham Forest star Joe Lolley has opened up on his decision to leave the City Ground last summer.

The 30-year-old completed a move to Australian side Sydney FC on a two-year deal, bringing his four-year stint at Forest to an end. Lolley who played a part in Forest's promotion campaign was told he wasn't part of Steve Cooper's plans ahead of the new season.

So far in the A-League for Sydney, Lolley has contributed with two goals and an assist in the opening six games. Speaking to Sky Sports about his departure from the City Ground, he explained : "I wasn't a regular starter in the season we got promoted.

Kouyate compensation?

Nottingham Forest could receive some compensation from FIFA for the injury suffered by Cheikhou Kouyate in the World Cup.

The summer signing was named in the starting line-up for Senegal’s opening match of the tournament against the Netherlands. He was, however, stretchered off in the 73rd minute of the game after picking up an injury.

Kouyate has been left out of the Senegal squad for every game since, as the African side were knocked out by England in the round of 16 clash at the weekend. It has so far been unclear as to when Kouyate could return to action.

World Cup windfall

Nottingham Forest are set to receive a cash sum from FIFA following ten player's participation in the World Cup over the last couple of weeks.

It was revealed by FIFA back in October that the organisation will give a payment to clubs for allowing players to take part in the tournament during the season. The payment is made through the Club Benefits programme and will see sides be paid a fee of around 8,202 pounds for every day that players were away from the club for the competition, including official preparation time.

FIFA did though state that the compensation will be paid to all clubs for which the footballer has played in the two years prior to the FIFA World Cup 2022.
