Nottingham Forest have been handed a transfer boost in their pursuit of Brazilian wonderkid Angelo.
The Reds reportedly made a bid for the 18-year-old, which would have seen him move to the City Ground on loan until the end of the season. If Forest were to avoid relegation, he would then have made a permanent move for €19million.
Forest and Santos did not reach an agreement in January, with the teenager staying put at his current club. But it has now emerged that Santos are struggling financially and are negotiating the player's sale with fellow Brazilian top flight club Flamengo.

That's according to reports in Brazil, per Sport Witness, who note claims that Santos are to meet with the players' parents and "staff" to talk through a possible move to Flamengo. The offer on the table would see him move for just €12m.
However, there is still a lifeline for Forest who could renew their interest in the summer window.
Bruno Andrade reports that Angelo doesn't want to leave Santos at this moment, with his preference being for a move to Europe in the summer. That gives Forest an opportunity to make their move, with Santos likely to be more receptive to negotiating with a foreign club than with a Brazilian rival.
Brazil has become quite the fruitful hunting ground for Forest, with both Gustavo Scarpa and Danilo joining from Palmeiras in January. Atletico Madrid's Brazilian defender Felipe also moved to the City Ground.
