Nottingham Forest transfer target 'wanted' by Leicester City and Jose Mourinho

Nottingham Forest's East Midlands rivals Leicester City are reportedly 'pressing' to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar next summer.

The one-cap France international apparently agreed terms with the Reds during August, but no deal was done with the French club, and Aouar stayed on the other side of The Channel. Uncertainty remains around the player's future, though, as his current contract with Lyon is set to expire at the end of this season, meaning that a pre-contract agreement could be signed with a foreign club in two months' time.

Leicester are not the only ones said to be interested in a potential free transfer either, with Jose Mourinho 's Roma also credited with an interest in the player who has previously been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal. Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan were also reported to have 'approached' the player last month.

But it is Leicester who are 'pressing', according to Roma Giallorossa, via SportWitness. They add that Roma remain very much in the frame, though, with Mourinho reportedly making contact with the player regarding a move.

As appeared to be the case during the summer, Aouar's 'priority' apparently is the Premier League should an extension not be signed to stay. Whether Forest's interest is still there remains to be seen, with the report claiming that the club seem to have 'moved on'.
