Nottingham Forest transfer target told to snub transfer in favour of Premier League rival

Nottingham Forest transfer target Armando Broja has been encouraged to sign for West Ham rather than move to the City Ground this summer.

The 20-year-old is of interest to Forest following their promotion to the Premier League, but they are not the only club interested in the young Chelsea forward.

Broja spent last season on loan at Southampton and enjoyed an excellent spell before tailing off in the final weeks off the campaign, scoring six goals and registering one assist in 32 appearances.

Forest, Southampton and West Ham have all been touted as having an interest in the talented front-man and former Premier League defender Glen Johnson believes Borja fits one specific club's identity.

"He fits the profile of a striker that West Ham should be looking to sign. He’s been scoring goals in the Premier League and looks like a tidy finisher," he told BettingOdds.com (via HampshireLive).

"They definitely need a natural goalscorer in their squad and if West Ham had an out and out goalscorer in their side this season then that could have made the difference."

With four years left on his contract, Chelsea are unlikely to sell with Forest far more likely to push for a loan deal if they do move. The Reds will count on manager Steve Cooper's excellent reputation for developing young talent and will be able to point to the progress of Djed Spence and James Garner this season during their loan spells.

Forest are shy of options up front heading into the summer transfer window, which officially opens on June 10. Only Sam Surridge and Lyle Taylor are contracted for next season, whilst a decision needs to be made on and by Lewis Grabban as he will be 35 by the end of next season.
